ABOUT BeWitness
BeWitness founded in 2017, with the noble initiative involving the public to participate anonymously in reporting the crime incidents they noticed. We provide Women, Children & Elderly Safety Mobile App and a Dashboard usable Worldwide, that enables the user / public to report the crime incident’s (Type, Time and GPS location) immediately and anonymously to nearby public using the mobile app within the surrounding 3 Kms and nearby Police department showing the incident details on a Map in the Dashboard and also users within the 5 kms surrounding area will receive the Incident Notification. SOS feature is also available by a single click to get timely help.
The BeWitness Mobile App was unveiled to public in 2017, and globally available from 2018. Volunteers, Ambassadors, and Contributors joined BeWitness Mission in 2020. BeWitness brings together the users to create Crime Free Safe World.
We build this platform keeping in mind that it should provide a comfortable space for the public to raise their voice for help and also enable police, ambulance and fire service to instantly get the crime details with accurate location, so that immediate help will protect the victim from the danger.

Empowering public, by crowdsourcing crime incidents information sharing for everyone’s Safety & Security
Report Crime
This app helps users to report crime incidents near them with accurate time range, type, location i.e, latitude & longitude with additional optional information – say within 3 km surrounding. By Default the location, time will be prefetched to the current location and time.
Crime Hotspots
The user will be able to view the location, time and type of incidents occurring 10 KM around them in the last 24 hours. The geolocation of the incident on the Google map can be shared with other mobile users for coordinating help.
Subscribe to Incidents near you
Users can choose to subscribe/unsubscribe to receive alert notifications about specific categories of crime incidents near them(3 km / 5 km of surrounding radius) with accurate time, type, location with additional optional information and direction to the location of the incident from the user’s current location.
SOS Helpline
In case of emergencies, like SOS (Save Our Souls), he/she can quickly reach out to police/fire/ambulance on a press of a button from the emergency list which also sends emergency notification to the surrounding people. Provisions to add 4 mobile numbers into the emergency contact list is provided.
In case of emergency, pressing an emergency button will send an emergency message via SMS with the current location of the user and initiates a phone call. The receiver of the SMS message can click on the location link to get the direction to reach out to the incident location with the help of Google maps shortest route.

How to Install BeWitness Mobile App
Step : 2
Turn on Mobile Data or WiFi.
Allow Location and SMS permissions and Accept Terms & Conditions.
Step : 4
Settings -> Apps -> BeWitness -> Battery -> Battery Optimization (Do not Optimize)
Settings -> Permission Manager -> Autostart -> Enable for BeWitness (If Autostart option is available)

Install “BeWitness” app from Google Play Store.

For Android Version 10 and above, go to Settings -> Apps -> BeWitness -> Location -> Allow all Time.
For Android Version 8 and above, go to Settings -> Apps -> BeWitness -> Notification-> Enable Alert Sound and Vibration.

Go to the SOS Helpline in the BeWitness App, Configure Contact Details by clicking each Buttons.
